Bangalore, Oct 17: BS Yeddyurappa today issued a veiled warning to Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, saying that the latter should be prepared for the "consequences" of "unilateral" decisions.

Reacting to the expulsion of his loyalist Dhananjay Kumar from the ruling party, the former chief minister told newspersons: "I hope Shettar will not go the way of DV Sadananda Gowda. It seems there is a thinking that if I go out of BJP, they can continue the government with Janata Dal (Secular) support. I will not allow this even in their dreams."

Incidentally, Sadananda Gowda was removed from the CM's chair in Jul 2012 after Yeddyurappa forced the BJP central leadership to appoint Shettar in his place.

Dhananjay Kumar who served as union minister during the United Front and NDA regimes was yesterday thrown out of the BJP for six years because he has frequently slammed Shettar as well as state BJP president KS Eshwarappa.

Yeddyurappa today hit out at Shettar for allocating two portfolios to Minister for Municipal Administration Balachandra Jarkiholi. The latter is a trenchant critic of Yeddyurappa.

Alleging that Jarkiholi was given the additional responsibilities at the behest of JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, Yeddyurappa accused Shettar of sidelining him completely.

"If this continues, I should not be held responsible for the consequences," he stressed. To further queries, he cryptically replied: "We want Shettar to continue as CM till Apr next."

Referring to the drought in Karnataka, Yeddyurappa rued that the state government had mishandled the situation. As for his future plans, the former CM said that he will discuss the same with his loyalists in the Shettar cabinet and other supporters.

Of late, there has been intense speculation that Yeddyurappa will launch a regional party in Dec. Despite his keenness to part ways with the BJP, Yeddyurappa has repeatedly asked Shettar to give his loyalists like Sunil Valyapure, Narasimha Naik, Revu Naik Bilamagi and MP Renukacharaya important portfolios.
