Rameswaram (TN), May 23: Twelve days after he was killed when his country boat was allegedly hit by a ship, relatives and friends of a teenager found that he has passed the class XII board exams, securing 69 per cent.

19-year-old Calvin Miller scored 832 marks out of a total of 1200, results of which were announced yesterday. He drowned when a ship allegedly collided with the boat in which he was fishing along with four others in the sea off the Pamban coast.

The others were rescued by fishermen of another boat. His friends and relatives, who came to his house to inform his parents of the results recalled that Calvin was very active and would help them in fishing during holidays.

Calvin's father said he wanted to pursue marine engineering to serve the Indian Navy. Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had directed her Chief Secretary to write to the Coast Guard to conduct a probe.

The Coast Guard has ordered an inquiry, but maintained it was not aware of any of its vessels hitting the boat.
