BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, May 16: It seems former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s woes is not leaving his back after the CBI raided his residences on Wednesday. With rumours rife that he might also be arrested following his involvement in the illegal mining cases, he has moved a CBI court seeking anticipatory bail.

The CBI had raided both his and family members’ residence after it was found that they had unfairly benefitted from the illegal mining scam. The CBI was acting under the directives of the Supreme Court after they gave the go-ahead to start probe on the tainted CM. The raids were carried out at the residence of his sons as well, BY Raghavendra, a Lok Sabha member, BY Vijayendra, as well as son-in-law Sohan Kumar in Bangalore and Shimoga district.

The CBI had registered an FIR against Yeddyurappa on the dubious mining deals. The investigating agency also raided the offices of JSW Steel and South West Mining Company Limited in Bellary, besides searching the house of a mining leaseholder, police sources said.

The CBI had filed a case under various sections of the IPC including criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust besides under the provisions of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and Prevention of Corruption Act.
