After seat row, Jaya takes offence on Rekha's media coverage
She also communicated her displeasure to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for the media coverage by the Rajya Sabha TV. She was apparently asking why the camera was focussing on her. She has reportedly said that she was hurt by the media coverage and that the same images were picked up by news channels to sensationalize the matter.
Ansari is understood to have called the Rajya Sabha TV CEO and asked him to explain the footage. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla also stated that several MPs had complained to the Rajya Sabha Chairperson on the coverage.
Earlier, Jaya had sought to change her seat in the Rajya Sabha in order to be placed farthest from Rekha who has been newly nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Rekha who was rumoured to have romanced Amitabh Bachchan in the late 70s occupied seat no. 99 while Jaya was moved to seat no. 143 from 91. Rekha was initially allotted a seat in the same row as Jaya Bachchan. When Jaya sought to change her seat, there was speculation that she wanted to do so to maintain a distance from Rekha.
