Actress Jayaprada likely to join Telugu Desam Party
There are speculations that Jayaprada is contemplating to seek election to the Lok Sabha from Andhra Pradesh. TDP has extended an invitation to her as the party needed starry glamour for the 2014 elections. Moreover, most of the senior leaders from TDP are in favour of Jayaprada to bring her back to the party fold.
The former actress hails from Rajahmundry in East Godavari district of Andhra Pardesh joined Chandrababu Naidu led TDP in 1993 and was made Rajya Sabha member in 1996. Following differences with party Supremo Chandrababu Naidu, she left TDP to join Samajwadi Party and contested from Rampur parliamentary Constituency in 2004 and elected to the Lok Sabha. She was elected to the Lok Sabha from Rampur for the second time in 2009.
But in 2010, Samajwadi party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had expelled Amar Singh and Jaya Prada from the party on grounds of indulging in anti-party activities and denting its socialist image.
Jayaprada followed her godfather Amar Singh launched Rashtriya Lok Manch, but the party drew a blank in the recent elections in Uttar Pradesh.
