Pune, Mar 19: With Prime Minister Manmohan Singh emerging as the butt of all jokes recently due to his passive stand on most issues, the recent one comes from none other than Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi when he took potshots at the PM by saying that Manmohan Singh had received an Oscar for acting.

The mocking remark was made by Modi at an event organized by Poona Gujarati Bandhu Samaj, where he said, "I received an SMS that said the prime minister has received an Oscar. I checked what it was and came to know that he got the Oscar for acting as PM."

With the various political parties embarking in a war of words every other day, this jibe by Modi at a public event against the country's Prime Minister grabbed headlines instantly. As part of his Pune schedule, he attended the unveiling of the centenary year souvenir and was also felicitated with the the Gujarat Ratna award during the event.

The other headline grabbing news during Modi's Pune visit was his snubbing of CWG scam tainted Suresh Kalmadi. The scam-tainted Kalmadi was meted out some rude treatment by Modi, when the latter refused to shake hands with the Congress parliamentarian. This incident took place at a book launch organised by the former union minister Mohan Dharia’s NGO Vanrai that was also attended by Kalmadi.

It has been reported that when Kalmadi extended his hand towards Modi for a casual shake-hand, Modi did not reciprocate but instead offered a Namaste with folded hands.
