Mamata defends her decision on booting Dinesh Trivedi out
In the interview, Mamata said that "I was kept in the dark by the minister. But first I chose to overlook. I was kept in the dark (about amendment to RPF Act), came to know only when the Chief Minister of a state wrote to the Prime Minister. The Railway minister did not consult me."
"Can you think that without discussing the policy decision with Soniaji the Congress can place the Budget? In every party there is a 'parampara' (tradition). Trinamool did not interfere in the resignation of Dinesh Trivedi. All my people have been thrown out from the railway. We never questioned that. Cabinet never passed the Railway Budget.
Even in case of General Budget the Cabinet endorsed it just half an hour before it was presented. Only the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister knew the Budget. If somebody is deputed from the party they have to inform the party about the policy decision. At least you should inform about the price hike," Mamata said.
"It is my right to decide who will be the Railway Minister. Why Sonia decides who should be the Prime Minister of the country? Because she is the leader of the party. Cong cannot interfere in my business," Mamata added, We do not want that the government should be toppled, but we want respect. We are not blackmailing the government. It is an alliance government. There should be a common minimum programme. But Congress has said common minimum programme is not possible."
