Trivedi shows teeth; says will resign if "conveyed properly"
With the relationship between Trivedi and the TMC going through considerable strain, Trivedi is in no mood to take it lying down. According to sources, the Railway Minister has strongly stated that he will submit his resignation only after TMC chief Mamata Banerjee asks him to do so and after the issuance of a written order.
Trivedi was quoted as saying to a television channel, "I will abide by the party's decision. If I wanted to stay in my chair, I could have. I don't want to be humiliated like this. I have done my bit. Let them convey it to me properly. I will resign in a day or two."
With the TMC flip flopping on the fate of Trivedi, the Congress was also coaxing the Trinamool from taking an extreme stand on the issue. Sources have claimed that the TMC was told by the Congress that sacking Trivedi at the moment might garner him a sympathy wave and make him a hero of sorts.
The Congress has requested the TMC to wait till the next week after the PM gives his reply to the Presidential address and Rail Budget in Parliament on Monday. Recent reports have revealed that even the Congress is in favour of removing Trivedi from the post and indicated that a mid-session swearing-in will fire the Opposition's ire.
