After stunning poll victory, Mulayam has eyes on PM's chair?

New Delhi, Mar 12: After Akhilesh Yadav was decided upon by Samajwadi party leaders to head the state as the new CM; there were increasing speculations that it was a change of guard with the old making way for the new blood into the ugly world of politics. But now it seems SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has bigger and better plans for himself.

There are reports that Mulayam intends to play a bigger role in national politics, a fact that he was not too keen in taking up the Chief Ministership role in UP once again. There are speculations that he could be projected as PM in the occasion of a leader from outside the Congress and the BJP make it after the coming Lok Sabha polls.

With the talk of mid-term polls gaining stem with every passing day, the same cannot be ruled out completely, considering the changing political alliances and scenarios emerging thereforth.

With the SP’s old guard like Shivpal Yadav and Azam Khan putting up some resistance to elevate 38-year-old Akhilesh to the top job, fell into line after the heir apparent Akhilesh stated that his father had a ‘role to play in Delhi’. Akhilesh was also elected leader of SP’s Legislature Party in Lucknow on Saturday.

The SP has however ruled out chances of pushing for early Lok Sabha elections.
