Pune, Feb 5: It seems that people have forgotten the massive irregularities during Commonwealth Games (CWG 2010) which ashamed the country in international level. One of the main accused of the entire CWG scandal, the sacked chairman of CWG Organisation Commission (CWG OC), Suresh Kalmadi returned to his hometown - Pune on Saturday, Feb 4 after spending months in Tihar jail in Delhi.

People in Pune greeted Kalmadi as a "hero" and gave a him a heroic welcome with slogans like - Sabse bada khiladi, Suresh Kalmadi" (The biggest player - Suresh Kalmadi).

Kalmadi returned home in an open car from Pune airport, waving at the party workers. Kalmadi, co-incidentally returned home on the last day of withdrawal of nominations for the civic elections.

However, Congress already has announced that CWG tainted Kalmadi would not participate in any election campaign. Though experts believe that Kalmadi's presence would create major impact on the voters.

Meanwhile, Vikas Matkari - Pune BJP chief criticised Kalmadi's supporters saying that the heroic welcome given to Kalmadi was against the "culture of the city" as Kalmadi is facing serious charges of corruption.
