Pune, Nov 11: The Kothrud police have booked four people for allegedly collecting Rs 12 lakh from Ishwar Ragit to help his son secure an admission in a medical institution.

Ragit told the police that his son Arjun, had cleared the pre-medical test in June 2011. Arjun was looking for a seat when he found an advertisement in a Nagpur-based newspaper that was offering services for admissions.

Ragit called the concerned person and they asked Ragit to deposit Rs 5,000. Later Ragit was told to come down to Pune with Rs 12 lakh. However, Ragit realized that he was fooled when he found Arjun's name was not there in the list of selected candidates after which he filed a formal complaint with the police.

"Ragit met Asutosh and Rajiv and their two other associates Vishal Kande and Mahavir Gadiya, who is a teaching employee with the institution in Pune. Ashutosh, Rajiv and Vishal took Ragit to Gadiya to impress upon him that the promised admission would be done through the management quota. They collected Rs 12 lakh from Ragit," said A D Walimbe, sub-inspector of Kothrud police.
