AIADMK leading in Tiruchi West bypoll
At the end of the third round, AIADMK candidate M Paramjothi was leading by around 2,400 votes against his nearest rival, DMK candidate K N Nehru.
The first bypoll coming after the April 13 assembly polls was necessitated due to the death of AIADMK minister Mariyam Pitchai in a road accident and is seen as a direct face off between archrivals AIADMK and DMK.
Meanwhile in Puducherry, ruling AINRC candidate A Tamilselvane was leading by 1,328 votes over his immediate Congress rival V Aroumougam at the end of first round of counting of votes polled at the October 13 bypoll to Indira Nagar Assembly segment.
The bypoll was a result of the resignation from the Indira Nagar assembly membership of Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who had contested and won from two assembly seats, including Indira Nagar.
