Lokpal Standing Committee: Amar Singh in, Manish Tiwari out
The new team for Standing Committee, which has been finalised on Wednesday, Aug 31, dropped Manish Tiwari for hurling "corruption" remarks against Anna Hazare.
However, Tiwari claimed that he voluntarily opted out his name from the Standing Committee and he also supported a strong Lokpal Bill which will root out corruption from the country.
Meanwhile, sources informed that Cash-for-votes scam tainted and former Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh might get his place back in the team, though former Bihar CM, Lalu Prasad Yadav is unlikely to get an extension.
Sources informed that Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Congress MP and party spokesperson, may continue in his post as the chairman of the committee.
Meanwhile, sources also claimed that two of the crucial members of Team Anna - Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan may appear before the committee to discuss the anti-corruption bill which had stirred the nation.
Kejriwal and Bhushan earlier had met Singhvi and reportedly discussed government's Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal Bill and other versions of Lokpal Bill which have been tabled by Aruna Roy and others.
