Microsoft vs Motorola
Washington, Aug 24: The software giant Microsoft approached International Trade Commission (ITC) seeking ban on imports of Motorola smartphones in United States.

Microsoft alleged that Motorola smartphones violated seven patents of Microsoft. Technology used on Motorola smartphones like Droid 2, Cliq XT, Droid X, Devour, Charm etc violated patents related to calendars and contacts, email sync, scheduling, and mechanisms used to inform applications of changes in signal strength and battery power.

The new law suite against Motorola came few days after the search engine tycoon Google announced the acquisition of Motorola Mobility for a total of about $12.5 billion. Reports said that Google was aiming on Motorola patents than its business. According to reports, Motorola's 25,000 patents will help Google to prevent competitors from suing the company over its designs for new products.

Recently, Google accused Apple, Microsoft and some other technology companies of conducting an "organized campaign" to kill Android mobile OS platform. Google said that these tech firms are trying to kill Android through "bogus patents" after it became a popular smartphone platform.

It seems like all major technology companies are fighting each other over patent infringements. In one way or other, all of them are in legal fight to maintain their supremacy in smartphone and tablet market.
