HTC vs Apple
New York, Aug 17: While the iPhone-maker Apple manged to gain a ban on Samsung Galaxy tablets' sale in the European Union, the Cupertino-based company is facing legal battle from the Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC.

According to media reports, HTC has moved to a US court seeking ban on imports and sales of Macintosh computers, iPads, iPods, iPhones and other devices in United States over patent infringements.

HTC filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission and a US District Court alleging that the Apple products have violated the patent laws. HTC accused Apple of violating three patents obtained by it in 2008 and 2010. The Taiwan company said that these patents are related to Wi-Fi capability and other functions.

HTC demanded compensatory damages and triple damages for willful infringement of its patents.

HTC moved to court few months after Apple filed law suit against it alleging patent infringement. Apple alleged that HTC smartphones violated several Apple patents.

The new battle between Apple and HTC popped just two days after Google acquired Motorola Mobility to "superchange" Android operating system. More than 25,000 Motorola patents will help Google to over come accusation by its rival over patent infringement by Android platform.
