IE effects IQ: Say bye to Internet Explorer - Get high IQ
The survey conducted by AptiQuant, a Vancouver-based Web consulting company, found that the people who are using browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari etc have higher IQ levels than the users of Internet Explorer.
AptiQuant conducted an IQ test among 100,000 participants who used various browsers for the test. The result showed that Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were slightly above average.
The researchers said that reason behind the low IQ levels of users of Internet Explorer, which is the world's most popular browser and default browser for Windows-based computers, is its resistance to change.
"It is common knowledge that Internet Explorer Versions 6.0 to 8.0 are highly incompatible with modern web standards. In order to make websites work properly on these browsers, web developers have to spend a lot of unnecessary effort ...," the AptiQuant report said.
"The study showed a substantial relationship between an individual's cognitive ability and their choice of web browser," AptiQuant concluded. "From the test results, it is a clear indication that individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers."
