UP election campaign: Katrina Kaif to join BJP's Rajneeti?
Taking a dig on Congress, BJP leader Raj K Purohit said, "We welcome her and will try to get her to be part of our rallies and meetings. What she said (about Rahul Gandhi) is not wrong. Instead, she is the first person to say this in public. We fully support her."
Katrina, who played the role of a political leader in her movie Rajneeti, may taste the real world of Rajneeti (politics) soon if she accepts the proposal made by the opposition party.
The controversy over Katrina's statement on Rahul Gandhi:
In an interview, the Bollywood actress tried to put an end on the debate over her nationality of half-Asian and half-British. Katrina reportedly said, "Am I supposed to be ashamed that I am half-Asian, I mean, no! Rahul Gandhi is half-Indian, half-Italian. So? I am very proud of what I am and I just don't understand the confusion as if I'm trying to hide the fact that my mother's a British. Why would I?"
However, Katrina's statement irked the Congress when the party spokesman Manish Tewari claimed, "Who is she (Katrina)? I do not know. Tomorrow, you will ask for our reaction on the statement of Johny Lever (popular comedian in Bollywood). To what level you want to bring down the level of the political discourse in the country?"
Soon after her statement on Rahul Gandhi that made a political stir in the country, Katrina without delaying apologised to the Congress party. "The comments have been misconstrued. They have been taken out of context. But having said that if I have caused hurt to anyone's sentiments, I deeply apologise. It was not the intention at all," the actress said while talking to a TV channel.
