Update now: Blogger saying good bye to old browsers
Blogger, which allows private or multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries, said that it wants to make use of new capabilities available in modern browsers and wants to offer high-quality experience to users.
"Starting next month Blogger.com will only support modern browsers. Beginning August 1st, we"ll support the current and prior major release of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari on a rolling basis. Each time a new version is released, we"ll begin supporting the update and stop supporting the third-oldest version," Blogger said in its blog.
From Aug 1, Blogger will discontinue to support for Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer 7, Safari 3 and their predecessors. Blogger added that users with old browsers may find trouble using certain features in Blogger as well as many other Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Docs and Google Sites.
Earlier we reported, Google's plan to change Blogger's name to Google Blogs in near future. The search giant Google, who acquired Blogger in Feb 2003, aims to bring several Google services under 'Google' brand. The name of Picasa, photo sharing website, will also be changed to Google Photos.
