DMK on face-saving mission; re-connect with masses on agenda
In spite of the DMK Chief Karunanidhi's daughter being denied bail for the third consecutive time, the DMK is taking the opportunity to reconnect with masses after the public rejection to the party post-elections. The DMK has planned to hold a series of public meetings for this very purpose starting on June 20 till the 30th.
Essentially an exercise to explain the party's stand on the various issues and controversies it faces, the state-wide meetings will keep the public abreast with the resolutions passed in the high-level committee meeting that was presided by Karunanidhi on Jun 10.
The first leg of the meetings is scheduled to be held on Monday by senior DMK leader K. Anbazhagan in Tiruvallur district. The resolutions that has shed light on the DMK's stand on the CBI's handling of Kanimozhi accused, Sri Lankan Tamils, syllabus' in school and other issues.
On the most pertinent issue dogging the DMK, the party slammed the arrest of Kanimozhi and in its resolution said, "Action in the 2G case is condemnable, as Kalaignar TV had received a loan and linking it to 2G is condemnable. It was a loan, a business deal, and had nothing to do with 2G licences. The party would take action on the 2G case legally."
