HTC Android Flyer set to join Indian tablet war
"HTC Flyer will be launched shortly, in the next couple of weeks," HTC Corporation President (South Asia) Lennard Hoornik said.
While the Apple Ipad 2 continue to dominate the tablet market worldwide, its huge price tag became a major hurdle for Indians. But, the lack of other serious competitors in the market helped Apple to sell numerous iPads 2 in India. It seems like the arrival of more branded tablets will make the competition vivid.
Even though, HTC refused to disclose the price of Flier tablet, the company said that it would be "competitive with other devices".
HTC Flyer tablet has a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1024x600 pixels resolution. It runs on on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system powered with 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU.
HTC Flyer tablet is boasted with 5 megapixel camera at the rear part and a 1.3 megapixel camera at front for video chatting. Other features include 32 GB in-built memory, HTC Sense UI, Bluetooth, HSPA network support etc.
The new HTC Flyer tablet will compete with other tablets like BlackBerry PlayBook and Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom. Blackberry Playbook is expected to be launched in the country by the end of June (pricing not announced), while Apple iPad (priced at about Rs 29,500) and Samung's Galaxy Tab (about Rs 26,000) are already available here.
