Now Swami Nigamanand's family threatens to go on fast
Nigamanand breathed his last after a whopping 73 days of fast with no media attention and the authorities not taking up the issue with the seriousness it deserved. There were further reports that pointed at the foul play in his death after there were reports of poisoning following his pathology report. The family members of Nigamanand also claim that the Swami was poisoned to death.
It seems Nigamanand is grabbing more attention after death than the time he was alive. His family member's have now threatened to go on fast, if his body is not handed over to them to perform the last rites. Subhash Chandra Jha, Swami Nigamanand's father had come forward to claim the body at the Haridwar ashram to take it to his hometown in Darbhanga district of Bihar.
The Superintendent of Police (City), K L Shah informed that a war of words have erupted between the family members and other sadhus in the ashram who both claim the body of Nigamanand. The sadhus are adamant and want a Bhu samadhi of Nigamanand while the family members wish to take the body home.
Shah stated that a legal opinion would be sought to resolve the issue. Nigamanand's family have, meanwhile, threatened to go on fast if their want is not met. Swami Nigamanand died on Jun 13 after a prolonged fast.
