New York, Jun 13: It happened to Orkut and now it's Facebook's turn! It seems like Facebook will also experience the slow death, which occurred to Orkut. Latest market data gathered from Facebook revealed that its growth rate has declined for the second straight month.

Even though world's largest social networking website Facebook nears to reach 700 million user mark, the data gathered from Facebook's advertising tool by the site Inside Facebook found that Facebook has lost nearly 6 million users in United States.

During the beginning of May 2011, Facebook bagged 155.2 million users in US, but it dropped to 149.4 million at the end. Similarly, Facebook lost around 1.52 million down to 16.6 million users in Canada. These data showed that Facebook is losing its ground in countries where it was successful while launching.

The growth rate went down from 20 million new users in Apr 2010 to mere 13.9 million new users in April 2011. It further dipped to 11.8 million in May 2011.

Meanwhile, Facebook ranked better growth rate in the countries where it was adopted lately. Latin American and Asian countries are still a better soil for Facebook's growth. Mexico topped the list of Facebook Top gainers in May to Jun. Mexico scored 25.6 million users in Jun 2011 with a growth rate of 7.6 percent, followed by Brazil 19.0 million users with 10.6 growth rate.

India settled in third spot with 26.6 million users with a growth rate of 6.7 percent. It was followed by Indonesia with whopping 37.6 million users with 4.0 percent growth rate.
