Chennai, Jun 9: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is out on vengeance yet again. After she upped the ante and went on a tirade against the DMK for its insensitive stand on the Tamil's cause in Sri Lanka, she went a step further and stated that the former CM M Karunanidhi had failed to protect Lankan Tamils and had engaged in enacting 'dramas'.

It was on Wednesday that Jayalalithaa had passed a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly to urge the Centre to impose economic sanctions on Sri Lanka. She said during the discussion on the same, “The Sri Lankan government neither heeds to India or anyone else when it comes to the basic rights of Tamils. Economic sanction is the only way we can force the government there to ensure that the Tamils, who are now locked inside the government-run refugee camps, will have a life of pride, dignity and equality."

Jayalalithaa also urged to impose sanctions on SL till the point they give equal rights to Tamils there and help in resettle all those displaced in the bloody civil war. She also quoted a report that said that the Indian Army had trained 100 soldiers from the Lankan Army on sophisticated equipment and weapons, a fact she says must have caugt the attention of the then CM Karunanidhi.

Jayalalithaa lambasted Karuna's efforts at conducting human chain demonstrations, passing resolutions and sending telegrams to the PM in spite of the Lankans engaging in attacks on SL Tamils. She had also urged the DMK leader to pull out of the UPA for the cause.

Karuna's attempts at fasting at the Marina Beach was also crticised when Jayalalithaa said that the fast was stopped with Karuna declaring that the attack on Tamils had stopped. She said on this, “The selfish attitude and haplessness of the DMK regime had caused the death of thousands of Lankan Tamils." Vijaykanth, Opposition Leader also spoke strongly of the DMK's stand and said, “the credit for eliminating the Tamil race in Sri Lanka went to the DMK."
