Vaiko
Chennai, May 19: After the political scenario seem to have cooled down post elections in Tamil Nadu, MDMK chief Vaiko is all set to heat things up all over again. With his trademark fiery rhetoric, Vaiko was quoted as saying in a public function that the LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran is not dead and will be back from hiding soon. Provoking those present, he added that the war for Eelam is far from over and will be resumed with renewed fervour.

He was speaking at a public meeting on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Mullivaikkal Massacre. This massacre saw the death of hundreds of Tamils at the hands of the Sri Lankan army and had sparked outrage across the Tamil population across the world.

Pointing out the UN report that backed claims of war crimes perpetrated against the Tamils, Vaiko went into a tirade against those involved. He also called for a trail against the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and “his bunch" by the Centre on charges of human rights violation and other brutalities.

He also stated that the Centre was complicit in the war and therefore was not initiating proceedings against Rajapaksa. He said, “I have just said all of this for our friends from the IB who have turned up at this meeting to see if I am saying anything against a party that has been dealt a deadly blow by the Tamil people in the recent election."

He also explained the sequence of events leading up to the massacre stating that the Lankan forces had cornered the 3.3 lakh Tamils into a 'no fire zone" and then attacking them. He also revealed the atrocities against women and children stating that close to 2500 Tamil children had been affected and women were gang raped by Lankan soldiers. All this he said was mentioned in the UN report. There were also allegations that Sri Lankan forces targeted Tamil-dominated areas.

Vaiko also continued his tirade against DMK Chief Karunanidhi who in his opinion traded the Tamil cause for the tidbits thrown by the mafia mind of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He said, “He kept quiet after being given ministries for his family. Where is the fire with which he opposed Delhi"s authoritarianism? I must not say too much, he is already hurt from the tremendous loss in the election."
