Jayalalitha to be sworn in today as the new CM of Tamil Nadu
Jayalalithaa had on May 15 met Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and staked claim to form the government.
In her third-term as the chief minister of the southern state, her cabinet will have 33 ministers with more than 16 new faces. According to reports, straight after the ceremony, she will proceed to Taj Coromandel for a lunch with the newly-appointed ministers of the state government.
She will then move on to Fort St George at 4 pm to formally take charge.
Informing about her priorities in her third-term as the state's chief minister, she said, "Our priority will be to restore law and order in the state. We have got to get the state's economy back on the rails. People of Tamil Nadu won't have to worry about their safety."
Refusing to divulge any further details about Congress president Sonia Gandhi's reported invitation to her, she said, "Sonia Gandhi congratulated me on the phone."
The AIADMK supremo along with her allies won 199 out of the 234 seats in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
