State Election 2011: Big losers, surprise winners

New Delhi, May 14: It seems that Friday, May 13 can be termed as a revolutionary day in the history of Indian politics. All the four crucial states except Assam which held assembly election, received a new government. While Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress succeeded to bump off CPI(M)'s 34 year roots of ruling in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu's Amma - Jayalalithaa returned to power on the debris of DMK family.

In Kerala, UDF bagged the supreme power of the state after experiencing a neck to neck competition with LDF. In Puducherry also DMK and its allies failed to AIADMK and its allies. However, Congress succeeded to revamp its power in Assam.

The total constituencies in the state are 294 and total 84.49 percent votes were casted in the six phase assembly polls. The main leading parties in the state were Trinamool, its ally Congress and the Left mainly led by the CPI(M).

Where Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Congress managed to win 225 seats, Left only managed to hold 63 while others got 6 seats.

The total constituencies in the state are 234 and total 78.80 percent votes were polled in the assembly elections. The main leading parties in the state were AIADMK with its allies and the then ruling party DMK with Congress and other allies.

It seems that M Karunanidhi's government has been bashed by the people over 2G speed. While DMK with allies managed to hold only 31 seats, Jayalalithaa's AIADMK with allies won the rest 203 seats.

The total constituencies in the state are 140 and total 75.12 percent votes were casted in the assembly polls. The main leading parties in the state were LDF and UDF.

After a neck to neck fight, LDF missed the power in the state with a whisker. Achuthanandan's party lost the cake for just four seats. UDF bagged 72 seats while LDF 68.

The total constituencies in the state are 126 and total 76.04 percent votes were casted in the assembly polls. The main leading parties in the state were Congress and its allies, AGP and BJP.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, hurling a hat-trick, assured the party that it will reign in Assam for the third consecutive term. Congress grabbed 76 seats while AGP, BJP and others managed to win 10, 4 and 36 seats respectively.

A total 85.57 of percent votes were casted in the 30 constituencies of Puducherry which held the assembly election on Apr 13, 2011.

While DMK with Congress and others won only 10 seats, AIADMK with its allies swept the union territory, winning 20 seats.
