HTC Merge - Android QWERTY 'World Phone'

New York, Feb 26: Taiwan based smartphone maker, HTC, has announced the launch of a new Android based slider smartphone called HTC Merge. This new smartphone is HTC's first Android-based CDMA 'world phone'.

The HTC Merge has a 3.8-inch touchscreen display with a slideout full QWERTY keypad. HTC has not yet anounced the pixel specifications of the screen and is also yet to announce whether the keypad will boast of a four or five row design.

The operating system on the phone would be Google's Android 2.2 Froyo and is expected to get updated to Gingerbread. HTC Sense UI would be available on HTC Merge to provide an easy access to all features. This new smartphone will have a five megapixel camera at rear with autofocus, flash and 720p video support.

Other features of the HTC Merge include, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support, integrated GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This 3G powered smartphone will offer global 3G roaming. HTC Merge would be available during the spring of 2011 in United States.
