Mumbai, Feb 14: More than 200 Business Schools or B-schools in India have decided to move the Supreme Court against the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) by the end of this week, sources reported on Monday, Feb 14.

India's technical education regulator, the AICTE, decided not to revoke the PGDM guidelines for the B-schools.

"We know that this (approaching the court) is the handiwork of select institutes. We have received complaints against many of these institutes in the past," stated an AICTE official.

"Some of these institutes are involved in malpractices, some are charging hefty fee, some are not conducting classes and exams well. We have weighed all options and decided on this," the official added.

The AICTE had during the month of Dec 2010, come out with guidelines on Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). B-schools raised their voices against one of the guidelines, which says that - admission to all PGDM courses to be done through common entrance test such as Common Admission Test (CAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT) or other examinations that are conducted by the respective state governments for all institutions other than minority institutions.

However, the AICTE under the guidance of Kapil Sibal, joined hands with the exchange for media group to create a body that can contribute to the formulation of the 'National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework for Media and Entertainment Industry.'
