2G scam: CBI starts raids on Nira Radia

New Delhi/Chennai, Dec 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials have started raids in 35 different places in New Delhi and Chennai in connection with the 2G spectrum allotment scam. Sources said that CBI officials are raiding offices and houses of corporate lobbyist Nira Radia.

CBI has started raids after the leaked tape controversy, which unearthed Niira Radi's involvement in the 2G spectrum scam. CBI is trying to get more details about the corporate's involvement in the 2G scam.

Meanwhile, CBI officials are raiding 27 places in Chennai in connection with the 2G scam. Earlier CBI had raided former Union Telecom Minister A Raja's houses and seized his personal diaries which exposed the money laundering. CBI said that some people close to A Raja has used money from the scam for international trades.

The leaked tapes, which have the conversation of Nira Radia with business tycoon, politicians and media persons, exposed the involvement of corporate lobbyist in deciding the portfolios of UPA-II government.

One of the tape released by Outlook magazine alleged that the Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel has been working for Kingfisher chairman Vijay Mallya.
