Karunanidhi is a totally confused man: Niira Radia
In one conversation, Niira Radia described Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief Karunanidhi as a "totally confused man." Radia describes his dilemma between his daughter, Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, and wife.
In a conversation with Tarun Das, the former head of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Radia said that Congress should talk to DMK only through Kanimozhi, who has more influence on Karunanidhi. Another shocking truth was that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also used to convey his messages through Kanimozhi rather Dayanidhi Maran.
In another conversation with a DMK leader, Radia said that Kanimozhi should have taken the Tamil Nadu state ministership and advised to look after herself first and then think of others.
"She should have taken the MoS, but she had her own views. Kani must learn to look after herself. This is politics and it is very cut throat, nobody is your friend, nobody is your enemy. I don"t know whether she feels that she's made a mistake and recognises it. Please, you must talk to her and tell her to be friend with Azarigiri. Trust me, it"s very important for them to remains friends," said Nira Radia
In another tape, Radia said that PM Manmohan Sigh was forced to give Telecom portfolio to A Raja in the UPA-II government due to the pressure from Karunanidhi. She said DMK chief wanted A Raja as a minister because he is a Dalit.
In another conversation with Tarun Das, Radia promised to take care of Raja as a Telecom Minister, despite of his unpopularity. She said, "It is better to have Raja in Telecom. He will behave himself. Trust me, he will behave himself....I have promised, Raja has promised that he will speak to Mittal and deal with the matter. Leave that to me."
