Ratan Tata
New Delhi, Dec 10: In yet another rap to Ratan Tata's petition to ban the publishing of the Nira Radia tapes, the govt has filed an affidavit with Supreme Court against Tata's complaint. The government has come out categorically and claimed that 'the tapping of the tapes were in accordance with the law'.

Ratan Tata had claimed that the tape leak was a violation of his right to privacy and filed an appeal against people responsible for the leakage and unauthorised publication of tapes on Nov 29 with the Supreme Court. The court said the tapes were made during a course of 60 days in 2009 and 120 days in 2008.

The government in a statement said that the tapping of the Nira Radia conversation was in accordance with the law. A source revealed that the govt has taken steps for no more transcript leaks. The affidavit asked how parts of the transcript were leaked and given to media houses in the first place.

Nira Radia, the PR representative, who handles Corporate Communications in the Tata Group had shot to fame after conversations between her and other big names were considered key evidence in the 2G spectrum scam. She apparently lobbied with senior journalists and telecom companies on the scam.

The Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) had in an affidavit said to the Supreme Court that, "the role of Radia would be examined in the 2G-spectrum allocation case in which irregularities were of enormous magnitude" has international ramifications.
