MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar writes open letter to Tata

Bangalore. Dec 7: Member of Parliament from Karnataka, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has written an open letter to Tata Chief, Ratan Tata on the way he dealt with the 2G spectrum scam that has hit the country. Ratan Tata has also been involved in the controversial Nira Radia tapes and his views on the spectrum controversy has not gone down well with the masses who consider the Tata group in high regard.

As a past telecom entrepreneur, MP, and as a reacting citizen, Rajeev has pointed out that the Tata's themselves have benefited from the out-of turn allocation of many deals. Also, Ratan Tata's comments on one minister asking for 15 crore bribe had raised quite a few eyebrows. Rajeev has suggested that such revelations years after the corruption has happened is like "an intellectual post mortem, and not active resistance."

Quoting figures about the loss to the country's exchequer, Rajeev also accused Tata's of robbing the country's exchequer to the tune of Rs 19074.8 crores. Rajeev's blog says -

"Your company was the beneficiary of this 'policy flip-flop" and you chose to accept the benefits of this flip-flop at that time - despite this blatant violation and distortion. I am personally aware because I led the fight against it and remember being immensely disappointed at the Tata Group"s remarkably self-serving position. Further, in one of the most mysterious and indefensible acts, Tata Group took on board as a consultant, the very individual, who as the Chairman of TRAI was the architect of this UASL and other shames."

Rajeev Chadrasekhar also comes out strongly on the alleged involvement of Ratan Tata with corporate lobbyist Nira Radia and asks, "why a group like Tata with its sterling character and reputation requires outside lobbyists to lobby on their behalf! That, in itself, is enough to shatter one"s confidence!"

Also, Rajeev dissects Tata's irk on Indian policy making when he called it a "banana republic". He points out that people like the Tata's chose to become mute spectators rather than pro-active harbingers of change.

Rajeev also expresses his deep love and respect for the Tata group and mentions how the group has become the face of Indian industry with its "increasing global footprint". He ends his letter by humbly requesting the Tata group to steer clear from unethical conduct and act hypocritically.
