Bangalore, Nov 3: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, who was forced to drop his cabinet expansion plans following protests from few party men, has sought to stress that he was "sure to expand the ministry".

“Due to delay in finalising the names of those to be inducted into the ministry, I had to cancel today"s swearing in. I will set a new date and am sure to expand the ministry", he told reporters here on Wednesday, Nov 3, informing that he would discuss the ministry expansion issue soon with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) higher-ups.

The Chief Minister was on Tuesday, Nov 2 forced to defer this cabinet expansion plans indefinitely as threats of another dissidence loomed large.

As per the earlier plans, Yeddyurappa was set to expand his ministry by filling up four the six vacant ministerial posts at 9:30 am on Wednesday, Nov 3 at the Raj Bhavan. But the rising number of aspirants for the limited number of berths made it impossible.

While there is no specific date announced as to when the state can expect a cabinet expansion, party sources and state unit BJP president KS Eshwarappa have indicated that it might take place after Diwali, most likely on Sunday, Nov 7.
