Romania: MIG-21 crash kills two pilots
The Romanian Defence Ministry told in a statement that MIG-21 crashed, killing pilots on board, near the Transylvanian town of Campia Turzii. The crew was on a weather reconnaissance flight before taking part in a pilot instruction flight.
The statement revealed that one of the victims was Laurentiu Chirita, an experienced fighter pilot who had taken part in missions in international missions, in Sweden, Italy and the US.
The eyewitnesses told that the fighter jet crashed into a tree and hit a fence before breaking into pieces. Defence ministry ordered an investigation into the issue.
