Two parcel bombs intercepted en route US
The parcels were bound for "two places of Jewish worship in Chicago," Obama said on Friday, Oct 29.
"Initial examinations of those packages has determined that they do apparently contain explosive material," Obama added in a televised briefing.
This incident comes after the a prominent Jewish organization warned of a danger to US Jewish institutions from packages mailed from Britain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The President was informed of the packages, both of which originated from Yemen, on Thursday, Oct 28, said the White House.
The terror bid has put all the US airports on high alert.
Al-Qaeda is suspected to be behind the bombs as similarities between the latest terror bid and the failed plot to blow up a US passenger jet on Christmas Day in 2009 were found.
The al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula include Yemeni and Saudi militants.
