New Delhi, Oct 16: Admitting that the Delhi Commonwealth Games (CWG) anthem was not up to the mark, award-winning music composer AR Rahman on Friday, Oct 15 apologised for his disappointing tune.

In an interview with a TV news channel, the maestro attributed his failure to enrapture everyone with his CWG anthem, 'India bula liya', to the fact that the song was was only tested on the younger generation and not all the age groups.

"The anthem was tested on the younger generation, and not all ages. We tested it on a lot of nationalities, but for some reason, people did not like it and it became a huge controversy," Rahman told NDTV.

"It served the purpose, I was patient. And next time I should be careful about testing it out on all the generations. It is difficult to satisfy every one, but I did try my best and I am sorry to have let anybody down; but I'm definitely proud of the composition," he added.

When the Oscar-winning composer initially released the anthem, it failed to incite an encouraging response. The Organising Committee also openly criticised the tune saying that it "fell short of expectations", forcing Rahman to tweak the song just ahead of the games.
