Schwarzenegger signs California anti-slavery bill
The outgoing Governor signed the unpopular legislation on Thursday, Sep 30. Los Angeles Times reported that all California businesses have to disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery.
"This legislation will increase transparency, allow consumers to make better, more informed choices and motivate businesses to ensure humane practices throughout the supply chain," said Schwarzenegger.
Officials at the California Chamber of Commerce opposed the new bill.
The California Grocers Association fears the new legislation would make California firms responsible for actions of those far outside the borders of the United States.
