Reliance unveils 3G service, hits market soon
The much awaited 3G service was shown to shareholders on a big screen at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai. One of the company executive showed the live streaming of the AGM by a private channel on mobile phone.
"We are the first private operator to show our 3G network to the world," said RCOM's President-Wireless, Syed Safawi to shareholders.
During the 3G spectrum bid, RCOM had won the bid in three metros and 10 other national circles. It is expected that RCOM will launch its 3G service by the end of 2010. The other private service providers like Airtel, Tata Docomo and Vodafone also plans to launch the service soon. State-owned telecom companies BSNL and MTNL have already started 3G networks in different parts of the country.
