World Ozone Day: CII conducts national seminar
The aim of the seminar, supported by Ministry of Environment and Forests and DRDO, was to assess the ongoing initiatives in phasing out ODS responsible for ozone layer depletion and to come out with suitable recommendations for what needs to be done.
Delivering the keynote address, Lt Gen PC Bhardwaj, Vice Chief of Army Staff, Integrated HQs of MOD (Army) told that the Army has remained committed to environmental causes. He also added that the Army has already taken significant measures to substitute several non-biodegradable substances with bio-degradable ones.
Lt Gen Bhardwaj emphasised that the solution in phasing out ODS lies in establishing a nodal agency at the tri services level to coordinate the action of the three services.
The seminar was attended by Rahul Chaudhary, CEO Tata Power Strategic Electronics Ltd, S Sundaresh, Chief Controller of R&D (ACE), SC Saxena, Director IIT Roorkee, officials from all the three services, DRDO, various ministries and industry representatives.
