9/11 anniv: Another church threatens to burn Quran
Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) in Topeka, Kansas plans to burn not only the Quran but also an American flag. However, the exact time and location haven"t been determined, reported KasasCity.com.
The church, which believes that God is punishing the country for being tolerant of homosexuals, has invited severe condemnation in the past for holding protests at the funerals of gay people and US service members.
In a statement, the WBC, which has already burnt the Quran two years ago, said, "WBC burned the Koran once – and if you sissy brats of Doomed America bully Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center until they change their plans to burn that blasphemous tripe called the Koran, then WBC will burn it (again), to clearly show you some things."
This comes after Pastor Terry Jones of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida showed signs of cancelling the planned Quran burning on Saturday, Sep 11 to pay tribute to the 9/11 victims on the ninth anniversary of the Sep 11, 2001 terror strike.
The Florida church received several appeals from top leaders, including President Barack Obama, army chiefs, and religious leaders to drop its plans of burning the holy book as it would hurt the sentiments of the Muslims as well as put the US troops outside the country at risk.
