Madani's role in B'lore IPL blasts uncovered: HM
Karnataka Home Minister, VS Acharya on Tuesday, Aug 24 informed that the interrogation of Madani has revealed his role in the blasts outside Chinnaswamy cricket stadium that rocked the state capital ahead of an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Apr 2010.
"Inquiry (in the 2008 bomb blasts) is in progress. We are confident that we will get the full information (on the conspiracy).
"The interrogation has revealed his role in the cricket stadium blasts," Mr Acharya said when asked about the progress of interrogation of Madani.
Just minutes before an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled to begin at 4 pm on Saturday, Apr 17, reports of two explosions rattled the city.
One of the explosions took place at Anil Kumble Circle, meters away from the stadium. The second blast was reported from the generator room of the stadium near Gate 12.
With at least six people sustaining minor injuries in the low-intensity blasts, the Bangalore police immediately began probing if it would be safe to continue with the Twenty20 cricket series match.
While the match was held after a delay of half hour, another bomb was found at Gate number 8, which was diffused immediately even as the match was going on.
Madani, who is a prime accused in the earlier 2008 Bangalore blasts case, was arrested on Aug 17 after high drama and exchange of words between Kerala and Karnataka authorities.
