New Delhi, Aug 24: The UPA government on Tuesday, Aug 24 announced that it would consider the opinion of the Left parties' over Nuclear liability bill row.

The Left parties earlier accused that the government is leaning towards the suppliers and the amended nuclear liability bill would "protect" the suppliers only.

However, after a meeting with CPI(M) politburo member, Sitaram Yechury, Science and Technology minister, Prithviraj Chavan said that they are willing to consider oppositions' views on the issue.

Chavan also said that the civil liability would not replace criminal liability in case of a nuclear accident and the law of the land will prevail.

"The minister appeared willing to consider our points of view, especially those relating to the suppliers' liability. But we have to see the fine-print of the proposed legislation," said Yechury.

The government would consider relevant amendments moved by the Left parties in the course of discussion on the Bill to be tabled in Parliament on Aug 25, said CPI(M) leader.

Yechury also informed that he conveyed the views of the Left parties to the minister at the meeting.
