2011: Single entrance test for MBBS and MD
According to Times of India report, the decision was taken by the Medical Council of India and accepted by the Union ministry of health and also conveyed to Supreme Court on Friday, Aug 14.
Earlier, students had to appear in at least five to six entrance tests for various colleges and worry about attendant problems like clash of exam dates as well as travel to distant places for counselling for allotment of seats.
This confusion caused students to rush to the Supreme Court every year complaining about the system where they were left high and dry even for making a single mistake in their choices.
With the announcement of the new system, students and parents are quite satisfied with the MCI's decisions and plans.
