'Bikini killer' case: SC to pronounce its verdict
Kathmandu, Jul 30: The judgment on the appeal of Charles Gurmukh Sobhraj case regarding a murder in 1975, will be pronounced by the Nepal Supreme court on Jul 30.
Sobhraj was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an American backpacker.
According to CNN-IBN, Sobhraj was convicted by the Kathmandu district court in 2004 for the murder of an American tourist Connie Jo Bronzich in Nepal.
He is also suspected in 12 murder cases across Asia.
His first victim was a young woman from US who was found drowned in a tidal pool in the Gulf of Thailand wearing a bikini, giving him the infamous nickname the "bikini killer."
Sobhraj's lawyer Sree Krishna said to CNN-IBN, " Sobhraj is confident of the evidence prosecution that has placed on record and is hopeful that the case will be decided on Jul 30 itself and not see any more adjournments."
