Orkut faces investigation over defamation charge
Sao Paulo, Jul 22: Google's social networking site, Orkut had faced investigation over pedophilia, defamation and false identity case.
A formal investigation had been opened by Brazilian state prosecutors into US Internet company Google.
The prosecutor's office will give Google 120 days for implementing a system that stores Internet protocol addresses.
The protocol will make it easier for authorities to track down images and pages that could be considered as complicit to a crime.
A top prosecutor said, "these mechanisms already exist, but Google only stores user information for 30 days."
He also added that the 30-day limitations created problems for police while investigating any case.
The prosecutor claimed that Google must also fund a media campaign to promote "responsible use of the Internet."
