Deora introduces new service for LPG delivery

New Delhi, Jul 14: Oil Minister Murli Deora on Tuesday, Jul 13 launched a new scheme which would allow the working people to get the delivery of refilled cylinder at their own preferred time that they don't have to take a day off or leave early from the work to get the new cylinder. Those who opt this scheme will have to pay an extra charge of Rs 50 for a cylinder.

The new 'Preferred Time LPG Delivery Scheme' of Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry was introduced by Murli Deora and his deputy Jitin Prasada.

Deora informed that the scheme is completely optional and those who do not opt for this will continue to get their refills as per the current schedule.

Under the new scheme, the cylinder delivery will depend on the amount paid. If the customers want the delivery before 8 am or between 6 pm and 8 pm on week days in metrocities, they would have to pay an amount of Rs 50. They would be charged Rs 25 if they want the delivery during any time between 8 am and 6 pm. The customers in other cities and towns would be charged Rs. 40 and Rs. 20 respectively.

During the weekends, Rs 25 would be charged extra for the deliveries between 8 am and 6 pm in metro cities and Rs 20 in other cities.

Jitin Prasada said that the service was being launched in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Sonepat, Bangalore and Pune. It would be soon be extended to Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad by the end of Jul 2010 and the rest of the nation would be covered by the end of 2010.

He added that the distributors who fail to deliver the cylinder on the instructed time or day would have to pay a penalty of Rs 20 to the customer besides renunciation of the premium service fee. If customer missed the delivery on the instructed day, it would be made during the same time the next day.

“There will be no jumping of queue because of this extra payment. The schedule for normal delivery will be maintained and this scheme is to help customers get that delivery on their preferred time and day," Prasada said.
