Vuvuzela, the word of World Cup 2010

By Abdul Nisar

London, Jul 13: Spain won the World Cup, but Vuvuzela won the World!

A London based firm, Today Translations, reported that vuvuzela has been voted as the word of the World Cup by global linguists.

75 percent of 320 linguists from over 60 countries selected the vuvuzela as the word with the biggest impact on the tournament.

Today Translations reported on Tuesday, Jul 13 that FIFA World Cup 2010 will be best remembered for the name of South Africa's deafening trumpet.

"Long after individual matches and goals are forgotten, this will be remembered as the Vuvuzela World Cup," said Jurga Zilinskiene, managing director Today Translations.

"Thanks to the World Cup, the vuvuzela has the entered the shared language of the world and joined the ranks of words that need no translation," he added.
