Bandh proves Opposition cares about people: Advani
New Delhi, Jul 6: Thanking the people for making the Bharat Bandh an "unprecedented success", senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani hoped that the 12-hour strike proved that the Opposition cared about people and their plight due to price rise.
"I would like to thank the people of the country for making Bharat Bandh an unprecedented success. I would also like to thank the people of Delhi and our supporters here for this success," he said.
"We had been hearing criticism that the opposition was not living upto the expectations of the people by not taking up the issue of price rise which was responsible for the plight of the people," Advani added.
On Monday, Jul 5, Opposition parties had called for bandh to protest against the fuel price hike.
Advani, who spoke to reporters on the bandh on the sidelines of a function held to mark the birth anniversary of party ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, put the bandh into the different perspective for the commoners by seeking to silence the critics of the Opposition.
