Yamunagar, Jun 9: Haryana policemen continue to hit the headlines for the wrong reason as new molestation case against a former top cop has emerged.

Former Inspector General of Haryana Police MS Ahlawat has been accused of molesting a widow nine years back when he was the superintendent of police in Yamunagar.

Finally a case has been registered against Ahlawat now as the victim refused to give up her fight for justice.

"We have registered a case against former Inspector General of Police M S Ahlawat under sections 327 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault with intent to outrage a woman's modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC," Station House Officer here Manohar Lal said on Wednesday, Jun 9, adding that a probe has been initiated into the charges.

The case has caught the attention of the country as the media drew comparision between this case and that of SPS Rathore, the former DGP of Haryana, who molested a teenage girl, Ruchika Girhotra over a decade ago. Rathore's victim killed herself months after being molested.

The victim of Ahlawat's sexual misconduct has been identified as Arvinder Kaur.

She claims that Ahlawat dared to do such as thing as SPS Rathore was the DGP of Haryana back then.

"If Rathore was not in office then, Ahlawat would not have dared to do such a thing," the woman is quoted as saying.
