Khushboo wins 'pre-marital sex' legal battle
New Delhi, Apr 27: All 22 criminal cases filed against prominent south Indian actress Khushboo was on Wednesday, Apr 27 squashed in the Supreme Court.
The apex court's ruling comes as a huge relief to the actress who was forced to face the long and tiring legal battle over her remarks on pre-marital sex and virginity.
In an interview to a Tamil magazine in 2005, Khusboo said that there was nothing wrong in pre-marital sex as long as it was consensual.
The statement invited the ire of a various sections of the society leading to 22 cases being filed against her.
With several cases pouring in from different parts of Tamil Nadu, the Madras High Court ordered the consolidation of all the cases so that there could be a joint trial.
Khusboo took the cases to the Supreme Court in 2008.
